During these days, August feels less like a pause and more like a moment to reflect. Not the loud kind, but a quiet space between lessons already learned and decisions still waiting to be made. On the surface, nothing moves. But underneath, I find myself circling back to my values and principles — the things that will guide the choices ahead.
This week, I sketched a small timeline. Just a line, nothing fancy. In the middle, I wrote, “You are here.“
It sounds simple, but it was grounding. Because that’s where I am: not in the past, not yet in the future — just here, and this time, I’m trying to stand more intentionally in it, trusting that clarity often comes in the quiet.
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward.
— Steve Jobs
For now, the dots are still scattered. Some feel unfinished, others just beginning. But they’ll make sense one day.
That’s what August reminds me of — a reflection point, a space to breathe before moving forward.
Maybe you’re in a similar place. Maybe this month can be your pause, too. Take a moment to step back, to ask yourself:
- What have I learned?
- What’s waiting for me next?
- Am I moving with intention, or just moving?
Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is to stop for a moment and listen — to yourself, to where you are.
You are here. And for now, that’s enough.
